A Labour MSP has been suspended by his party after claims of sexual harassment were made against him by a younger woman.

Foysol Choudhury is facing the allegation after a complaint was lodged by a Holyrood staffer.

The revelation comes on the eve of Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s keynote speech to the Labour conference in Liverpool.

A Labour Party spokesperson said: "The Labour Party takes all complaints seriously. "They are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures, and any appropriate action is taken.”

It emerged over the weekend that Choudhury is sitting as an independent MSP after he was suspended over an allegation of inappropriate conduct.
