VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — After two large-scale national rescue operations that saw the removal of over 120 dogs from abusive and neglectful situations, seven dogs are now in the care of the Virginia Beach SPCA.
The first situation occurred in Harford County, Maryland, where more than 100 Havanese dogs were rescued from an allegedly neglectful breeder in late August. According to the Humane World for Animals, groups of two or three dogs were found in tiny cages together, and others were roaming throughout the property. Most dogs were showing some sort of evidence of sickness or emaciation.
