JACKSON COUNTY, MI – Students and passersby at Jackson College should expect to see numerous emergency vehicles on campus this week for a large-scale training exercise.

First responders from throughout Jackson County will gather at the Jackson College Central Campus for three days, from Oct. 1-3, as part of an active shooter training exercise.

The exercise, which was announced Sept. 25, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance emergency response readiness and coordination among first responders in the event of an active shooter incident.

Three days after the announcement there was a mass shooting at a church in Grand Blanc Township , Genesee County, that left four people dead and multiple others injured. The shooter, Thomas Jacob Sanford, was killed by police converging on the scene.
