LONG SAULT — The 27-year-old man reported missing in the St. Lawrence River near Macdonell Island on Sept. 23 drowned, SDG OPP confirmed this weekend.
The OPP East Region posted to its social media accounts on Friday evening indicating the man had been located. SDG OPP confirmed on Monday the OPP’s Underwater Search and Rescue Unit had located the man shortly after 12:30 p.m. the same day.

OPP had previously reported the man had fallen into the water off of Macdonell Island midday on Sept. 23. A search started that day that included South Stormont fire, OPP, RCMP, and the Canadian Coast Guard.
