ANDERSON COUNTY., S.C. (WSPA) - The Anderson County Sheriff's Office is sounding the alarm to new scams that have come across their desk. One targeted the families of inmates and the other lying about a warrant for your arrest.
Deputies said they have come across a new scam that involves people texting potential victims demanding money saying a warrant is out for someone’s arrest for missing jury duty.
“Jail is definitely some place that no one wants to go, and so people will really do anything in their power to avoid going behind bars, especially for something like missing jury duty,” said Shale Remien, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Remien said a scammer texted a woman from a local number.
