Oregon National Guard troops could be deployed to Portland by Thursday, an Oregon Military Department spokesperson said.
That timeline is based on the 96-hour standard the Oregon National Guard sets for how long it should take to mobilize troops once they’ve been called up.
The department got notice of the ordered mobilization Sunday morning, through Gov. Tina Kotek’s office, Lt. Col. Stephen Bomar told The Oregonian/OregonLive.
The original order came from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who told Kotek in a memo that he was federalizing 200 Oregon troops for 60 days as part of 2,000 National Guard troops to be mobilized nationally.
