Residents were told to leave their homes after a bomb was found in a Cheshire village. A bomb squad descended onto Mottram St Andrews, near Macclesfield , following a discovery of the potentially explosive device on Sunday (September 29).

EOD were on the scene this afternoon (Monday, September 30), where the huge device was moved to a field and 'safely detonated'. Fire services and ambulance were also spotted at the scene. View 3 Images

The munition, which is believed to be from WW2, was taken to a field on Sycamore Quarry on Windmill Lane. People living in nearby homes were evacuated and a refuge centre was set up.
