WALKER COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Twenty-three train cars derailed early Sunday morning in the Barney community near Cordova, according to the Walker County Emergency Management Agency.

The derailment happened around 5 a.m. No injuries were reported, and officials say there were no hazardous materials involved.

Norfolk Southern confirmed it was one of their trains and they began cleanup operations Sunday.

Officials say there are no public safety concerns connected to the incident.
