ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Rod Moore vowed in August that his return would happen at some point this fall. He just didn’t know exactly when.

The two-time Michigan captain and former all-Big Ten safety had been cleared to play, but knew he needed some time to feel out his rehabilitated left knee. The calendar flipped once over from March 2024, when Moore suffered a torn ACL and meniscus that required surgery, then a second procedure, delaying his eventual return.

And after getting back into uniform and warming up with his teammates in the weeks leading up to Michigan’s 30-27 win at Nebraska, he knew the time was right for the Sept. 20 game .

“I warmed up and felt really good (in Week 3), then I went through the Nebraska week and I just had a good day every day,” Moore said. “And that’s what it
