LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

The Louisville Free Public Library has a new director.

Heather Lowe was appointed to the job by Mayor Craig Greenberg.

Lowe has spent the last 11 years in a variety of leadership roles at the Dallas Public Library.

"I'm honored to join a community that values its library and a talented library team so passionate about serving the community. Together, we will strengthen Louisville Free Public Library's legacy of providing access, learning, and connection for every Louisvillian," Lowe said in a news release.

She will begin her new job in November, replacing interim Executive Director Barbara Sexton Smith.
