WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Watertown are mourning after Sunday’s deadly shooting in Michigan.

“I’ve been hearing about it, but I’ve also been hearing that it’s important to remember what Christ teaches and be loving, and to face it with love and understanding and hope,” said Elder Jacob Brinkerhoff, a member of the Mormon community.

Authorities said a former Marine crashed a pickup into a Mormon church in Grand Blanc Township, shot into the building and then set it ablaze during a Sunday service. Police fatally shot the man, who killed four people and injured eight more.
