Tourists looking to walk the Freedom Trail in Boston might come away disappointed if lawmakers on Capitol Hill can’t cut a deal to keep the government funded this week.
That’s because Boston’s national parks will be among the array of federal services that would take a hit in any funding standoff between Democrats, the Republican Trump administration and its GOP allies in Congress, Mayor Michelle Wu said Monday.
The same holds for the thousands of federal employees who call the city and its suburbs home, and who likely would be told to stay home until lawmakers pass a stopgap or permanent funding bill.
“The most immediate right away is the impact on those Boston residents who are public servants who work for the federal government,” Wu told reporters after an unrelated event at City Hal
