Boston is partnering with Northeastern University researchers to deploy a mobile lab that measures air pollution with block-by-block precision, aiming to map air pollution and traffic emissions from the Massachusetts Turnpike in the Allston-Brighton neighborhood.
"So these are regulated U.S. EPA, so these are called 'criteria pollutants,'" said Dr. Shang Liu from Northeastern University.
Liu explained that on the pollution map, pollutants will be color-coded by their concentration, allowing residents to identify hot spots and plan their outdoor activities accordingly.
