LOS ANGELES —
A flight attempting to take off from Los Angeles to Boston Sunday night slammed on its brakes after a cargo plane unexpectedly crossed the runway in front of it.
That cargo plane landed at LAX just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
Air traffic controllers can be heard asking the plane to stop, but the flight had already landed.
Air traffic controllers asked American Airlines pilots to stop, prompting them to slam on their brakes while cruising at 154 miles per hour.
No one was injured in the incident.
American Airlines released a statement regarding the incident:
"We thank our crew members for their quick action and our customers for their understanding."
The flight eventually took off for Boston, 2 and a half hours after its intended departure time.
