The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department intends to temporarily close Station 12 in Point Place because of staffing limitations.

Taking Engine 12 out of service would provide the staffing for additional advanced-life-support medic units, bringing the number of such units from 13 to 15, as long as the minimum staffing of 113 Local 92 firefighters is met, the department said Monday in a news release.

The two additional ALS medic units will operate out of Station 18, near Lewis Avenue and Laskey Road, and Station 13, 1899 Front St., according to the news release.

In an interdepartmental memo released Monday, Fire Chief Allison Armstrong said Engine 12 will remain housed at Station 12, 3435 Chase St., and will be put into service when staffing allows.
