HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - Roseshire Gaming Parlor opened its doors Monday, Sept. 29, in Henrico’s Staples Mill Shopping Center. The big opening had the parking lot packed for most of the day, as a line to get into the building extended down the sidewalk.

“We drove from the Northern Neck, thinking they’re going to give out a free t-shirt to everybody. There’s a thousand people ahead of us, so I’m sure they’re out of t-shirts,” a man named Norm said while waiting.

Churchill Downs is the company behind the new site and invested $35 million to build it. The space is supposed to have 175 historical horse racing terminals, lounges, a kitchen, and more.

It offers up to 100 jobs to the area and is an upscale version of the company’s Rosie’s gaming parlors
