HALFWAY, Oregon — A Halfway man was arrested Sunday for causing a disturbance at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, according to the Baker County Sheriff's Office.
Clifford Duane Gross entered the church around 11:30 a.m., appearing intoxicated. He was escorted out of the building by church missionaries. According to the sheriff's department, Gross then became agitated, and he threatened a churchgoer with physical violence. Police responded around 1:00 p.m.
The department said Gross left the church and drove home under the influence, where two officers arrested him at his residence. He was then charged with driving under the influence, menacing and disorderly conduct. He is currently in the Baker County jail.
