LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -The changing of the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Solder in Arlington National Cemetery is a display of dedication, discipline, and precision.

The army sergeant most recently in charge of those dedicated soldiers is now making a military impact on the campus of Michigan State University.

Military Science instructor Sgt. Andrew Jay teaches U.S. Army cadets in Michigan State University’s ROTC program.

Sgt. Jay has been a member of the U.S. Army since age 22.

Now age 39, this career service member decided to step into the role of military teacher, after stepping away from a prestigious military position.

Sgt. Andrew Jay was the 41st Sergeant of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
