A stretch of Albany Highway near Bannister has been reopened after the threat of a nearby bushfire was downgraded on Saturday.

The bushfire was first reported at 1.59pm on Thursday and sparked an advice level warning from Department of Fire and Emergency Services soon after.

That warning was later downgraded to monitor conditions for people travelling on Albany Highway between Bannister Marradong Road and north of the Riverside Roadhouse in Bannister, and then further reduced on Saturday.

The warning area was in the Shire of Boddington and the Shire of Wandering.

In an update on Saturday morning, DFES said there was no threat to lives or homes but recommended people stay alert for potential dangers such as smoke and fallen trees and power poles.
