A West Chester mother is making it her mission to help families of children with autism.

Jonisa Cook is launching a foundation in her son's name, called the Joshua Al-Lateef Jr. Foundation. Joshua drowned in a pond behind his home last year. Advertisement

The foundation will raise money to support families of children with autism and connect them with local resources. One focus will be paying for the children to partake in swim lessons.

"I just knew I needed to develop a different mission, a different path, and I have to wake up every day, and be able to help another family," Cook said. "I don't want nobody else to even think about having to go through something like that."
