LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

New Mexico State University has announced Joe Fields will be its next director of athletics following a nationwide search.

Joe Fields was selected to lead the athletic department with two decades of experience in collegiate athletics. He joins the Aggies from the University of Tulsa, where Fields was the school's deputy athletics director and its chief operating officer.

Justin Bannister, chair of the search committee, said fans will enjoy Fields' perspective as a former student athlete and within sports management.
