MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - For the first time in 16 years, there is a wide-open election for Wisconsin’s next governor. With seven Democrats and two Republicans in the race, party leadership on both sides are already crafting game plans for the 2026 midterms.

“I think it’s entirely possible we will see more candidates hop into the primary,” Devin Remiker, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin said. “I think that’s a good thing.”

Remiker said Wisconsin Democrats are focused on voter outreach and targeting Republican candidate U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany.

“Elected officials like Tariff Tom have to answer for their actual record,” Remiker said.
