AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Lone Star Conference announced that West Texas A&M grad student, Ashton Reynolds, is the LSC football Defensive Player of the Week.

The Houston native had three sacks and three TFL in the win over Western Oregon on Saturday.

WT head football coach, Josh Lynn, says Reynolds and the defensive front were able to capitalize and shine Saturday night out at Bain Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium.

“One of the biggest influences of our defense there on Saturday night is we had the ability to rush with just four, so that allows us to play coverage in the back end,” he said. “Ashton was a big part of that, as well as all of our defensive line. We were able to generate a pass rush with four defensive linemen. When you can do that, you can be really effective.”
