MESA, Ariz. — The Mesa Fire and Medical Department is mourning the loss of Engineer Paul Shupe, 58, who died after a nearly yearlong battle with brain cancer, the department announced Monday.
Shupe, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma in October 2024, served more than 20 years with the department. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, who has worked in Mesa’s dispatch center for a decade, and their four children.
“With a heavy heart, we share the sad news that Engineer Paul Shupe has passed away,” the department said in a statement. “We ask everyone to keep the Shupe family in their thoughts and prayers.”
