GILA COUNTY, Ariz. — Gila County officials called on state and federal elected officials to provide more resources, saying they did what they could with what they had when historic flooding rushed in.
Officials provided the public with an update on Monday afternoon regarding the aftermath of days of rain and flooding that left three people dead and one person missing.
"There's nothing that I believe that anything we could have done that would have stopped this devastating flood," said Mayor of Globe, Al Gameros, during the news conference. "It's historic."
On Friday night, heavy rains overwhelmed waterways in and around Globe, Miami, Claypool, and San Carlos, leading to significant flooding.
