LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Increasing safety at places of worship is now a topic many religious leaders are advocating for after a shooting and fire at a church in Grand Blanc left four people dead and injured several others.

Pastor Brigitte Brown of the Rivers of Life Church in Holt says she heard the news of Sunday’s incident from a member of her congregation.

"And I was just like, oh my God, not again, you know, because we just had one,” said Brigitte Brown.

Brown says they have security monitoring their buildings at all times, but now they’re taking even more steps to ensure everyone’s safety.

"Yeah, we'll probably apply some more pressure, assign some more people to those positions,” said Brown. “But we also have camera security."
