GROVETOWN, Ga. (WJBF) - This time last year, the familiar sounds of laughter and joy at Steed's Dairy Farm were replaced by the crashing wind and devastating silence of Hurricane Helene. The storm abruptly led to the farm delaying its opening.
The opening was pushed back two weeks, from September 28 to October 12 due to cleaning out the damage and devastation.
Now, one year later, the beloved community destination is back in full swing, welcoming families for a complete season—a powerful testament to the resilience it took to rebuild.
The owner of Steed’s Dairy Farm, Jim Steed talked with me about the moments after Helene hit the beloved attraction.
“When I heard trees cracking, and ‘I said I’d better get to the farm,’” he said.
