On Sept. 15, downtown Chandler became the backdrop for what a news release states was a heartfelt demonstration.

Chandler Council member O.D. Harris led an daylong protest calling for peace in the wake of recent shootings plaguing the nation, the release states.

The event, which Harris titled “Stop the Violence and Spread Love,” carried a message about turning down negative rhetoric and focus on hope, unity and community healing.

“Our community — and our country — is hurting,” Harris stated in the release. “Today is about bringing people together to stand against hate and violence. Even small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect of change.”
