The city of Phoenix broke ground last week on a 72-unit affordable housing project on land it bought from the Isaac Elementary School District earlier this year.

The project, called Wild Rose Flats at 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road, is being built by the Denver-based Ulysses Development Group. It will serve working families and individuals earning 60% or less of the area median income.

Ahmed Abdul Hamid, representing the group, thanked the city, in addition to providing the land, for providing $1 million in federal HOME funds for the project and 22 of the city’s Housing Choice Vouchers also known as Section 8 vouchers.
