CALERA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A Montevallo man is accused of driving on the wrong side of the road under the influence and chasing a woman into a Calera Dollar General.

“This is almost like a Grand Theft Auto type situation,” said Calera Police Chief David Hyche. “You can imagine this poor lady going about her business and she has a head on collision and then a huge man chases her around.”

Concerned neighbors called police Sunday night about someone driving “recklessly” on Highway 31.

“Everyone’s appalled,” said Calera resident Ricky Walton. “It has been happening unfortunately.”

Police say the driver was crossing into oncoming traffic.
