COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Comstock Township board voted unanimously to fire its deputy fire chief after a crash in June that left an 11-year-old girl hurt.
Comstock Township Deputy fire Chief Michael Dyer, 63, pleaded no contest last week to one count of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.
Previous police reports say 11-year-old La'Shae Parker was hit by a vehicle around midnight on June 22. In body camera video, Comstock Township Deputy fire Chief Michael Dyer told Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies that he was coming home from dinner, where he had three gin and tonics.
A preliminary breath test resulted in a 0.155 blood alcohol level. Another test at the Kalamazoo County jail recorded 0.158 BAC and 0.146 BAC. The legal limit is .08 to drive in the state of M
