ALACHUA, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua city leaders are joining a lawsuit over a new state law.
Lawyers from a Miami-based law firm filed the suit Monday afternoon on behalf of 25 municipalities, arguing parts of Senate Bill 180 are unconstitutional.
An amendment to the bill aims to prevent local governments from regulating development in the aftermath of a hurricane, including moratoriums on construction regulations.
The lawsuit was filed in Leon County Court.
