The West Coast Eagles have been handed an extra first-round draft pick and four additional rookie list spots from the AFL, in a bid to help the ailing club return to competitiveness after four dismal years on field.
The Eagles, who won the premiership in 2018, have won just 11 games in the past four years, collecting two wooden spoons in that time.
The AFL announced on Tuesday it would give the Eagles an extra draft pick at the end of the first round, currently pick 19, as well as four extra rookie list spots for the next three seasons.
AFL football operations boss Greg Swann said the special assistance package was aimed at supporting the club to be competitive again.
