The AFL has approved an assistance package for West Coast as the club continues to battle through the bleakest period in its history.

The Eagles have won just 11 of their past 95 games, rivalling even the worst of Gold Coast in the late 2010s.

West Coast will receive an end of first-round draft pick in this year’s draft. The pick currently sits at selection 19, but will be pushed back on the night when academy bids are matched.

The Eagles are not required to trade the pick but could use it in a deal for two-time Brisbane premiership defender Brandon Starcevich.

Starcevich is a free agent but if the Eagles land him that way, it could affect their compensation for co-captain Oscar Allen.
