At least one student was killed and 65 others were injured after an under-construction building at an Islamic boarding school collapsed on Monday (September 29, 2025) in the East Java town of Sidoarjo. According to reports, the tragic incident occurred while dozens of students were praying. A search operation is currently underway to rescue those buried under the rubble.

Upon receiving information, the rescue team rushed to supply oxygen and water to the trapped students. In the overnight rescue effort, eight frail students were pulled out from the concrete rubble at Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School. Authorities fear the death toll will likely increase as more bodies are visibly buried.
