Holding first place in the West-PAC Iron 11-player football conference, Iron Mountain will have a bye this weekend before getting a chance Oct. 10 to avenge its only loss of the season.

The Mountaineers (2-0, 3-1) defeated L’Anse 30-26 on the road Friday, handing the Purple Hornets (3-1, 4-1) their first loss.

“Our team played well in spurts but gave up too many big plays,” said Mountaineers head coach Kyle Johnson. “We’re happy with the win on the road and are proud of our team. We are looking forward to our next game in two weeks versus Bark River.”
