Glendale’s re-imagination of its downtown is soon to focus on Murphy Park, just outside City Hall.
During the Sept. 23 City Council workshop, council members and city staff mostly discussed where a new gazebo would be placed in the park and how it would look.
The gazebo was originally located in the southeast corner of the park.
“There were comments that it might be too busy and too loud. It was moved to the northeast corner of the property. With that, we’re providing an accessible, sloped plain up to that elevated platform for those special events. Mainly, that northeast corner is a little quieter. It’s better for special events,” said Michael Jacobs, principal at Holly Street Studios, the architects for the downtown project.
