Dear Kid Whisperer,
I feel very alone in my friend group. We are all mothers of young children, and we all send our kids to the same school. The problem is that in social situations, a few of the moms will talk about their very touchy-feely parenting methods, like the mom who goes on and on about how she listens to her son about his feelings and how she is so “in-tune” with him. He just turned 3. Another mom talks about how kindness is all that matters in parenting and brags about how kind her son is. I feel like there is a lack of honest dialogue about parenting. It makes me feel terrible because I know how hard parenting can be, and this kind of talk makes me want to not have anything to do with this group. I’m not sure how to change anything.
