The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday forecast heavy rainfall over parts of Saurashtra and Kutch, eastern India, and the northeast in the coming days, while warning of above-normal night temperatures across northwestern states until October 4.

According to IMD, a well-marked low-pressure area over the Gulf of Kutch and its neighbourhood will bring isolated heavy rain to the coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch between September 30 and October 2. Rainfall activity is expected to intensify over eastern states between October 2 and 4, with isolated heavy showers likely in Odisha on October 2, Gangetic West Bengal on October 2 and 3, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on October 3 and 4, and Bihar between October 3 and 5.
