The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of eastern India this week, with Odisha bracing for extremely heavy showers on October 2 due to the likely formation of a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal. The wet spell is expected to continue across Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim until October 5. Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura are also likely to receive heavy rainfall in the coming days.

From October 5 to 7, a fresh western disturbance is expected to bring widespread showers to northwestern states, with peak intensity on October 6. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand are set to be impacted.
