Jacob Roe played a key role as the Virginia High Bearcats earned a 27-26 non-district football victory over the Grayson County Blue Devils on Monday in Independence.
The game began on Friday but was suspended due to lightning in the area with 7:43 remaining in the second quarter. After it resumed, VHS held on to improve to 5-1.
Roe caught touchdown passes from Deion Graham before the suspension and afterward. He finished with four catches for 87 yards, three kickoff returns for 48 yards and one carry for three yards.
He also deflected Grayson County’s final pass of the game with 13 ticks left on the clock.
VHS also stopped a potential go-ahead two-point conversion with 3:25 left.
