Andy Anderson’s first career win as coach of Buffalo’s football program came with a lot of emotion and he couldn’t hold those feelings back as he left the field toward the Bison locker room after they defeated Tolsia 33-8 on Sept. 19.

“It feels pretty good,” Anderson said when asked what win No. 1 felt like. Then the tears flowed, and he asked for a minute to gather the words.

“It’s always been one of those things coming from a coaching family that I always wanted to do it,” said Anderson.

Anderson’s father, Phillip “Nip” Anderson, coached softball at West Virginia State and had served as an assistant there as well as at the University of Charleston.
