Srinagar- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday ruled out any alliance with the BJP, saying he would rather resign than compromise on the issue of statehood for the Union Territory.

Speaking at an event in Achabal, Anantnag district, Omar emphasized that he is committed to achieving statehood through democratic and peaceful means.

“If it is needed to include the BJP in the government, then accept my resignation. Make any MLA here the chief minister and form the government with the BJP—I am not ready for that,” he said.

Omar acknowledged that including the BJP might have hastened the restoration of statehood but stressed that he would not make political compromises. He cited the 2015 PDP-BJP alliance as an example, noting that statehood could have been pursued without involving the BJ
