Srinagar- Crimes against women in Jammu and Kashmir have seen a decline over the past two years, but the Union Territory continues to lead in cyber crimes targeting women, according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2023 report.

The total number of crimes against women fell 7.21%, from 3,937 cases in 2021 to 3,653 cases in 2023. Despite the overall decline, Jammu and Kashmir recorded the highest number of cyber crimes against women among all Union Territories, with 43 cases reported. These included 39 incidents of transmitting sexually explicit content and 4 cases of blackmailing or morphing images of victims, surpassing Delhi, which recorded 36 cyber crime cases.
