Former Pittsburgh Pirates player Bob Oldis, who won a World Series during his time with the organization, has died . He was 97 years old.
Oldis died on Sept. 21 in Gilbert, Arizona, the state where he lived for the final 13-plus years of his life.
In addition to the Pirates, Bob Oldis also spent time with the Washington Senators and Philadelphia Phillies during his MLB playing career.
Across seven seasons of Major League Baseball, Oldis hit .237 with six doubles, one home run and 22 RBIs in 135 games.
A catcher during his playing days, Oldis worked as an MLB scout after he retired.
Oldis might not have had the most impressive stats during his playing career, but he had a ton of fun playing the game that he loved, he said about 10 years back.
