EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 60-year-old man was struck and killed by a driver over the weekend in East Hartford, police said.

Authorities said they responded around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, to the 700 block of Silver Lane to the report of a "serious crash with injuries."

The man was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle, police said.

He was treated on scene, but was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after, according to police.

The driver remained on scene and was compliant and cooperating with the police.

The investigation remains active.
