Forecasters are monitoring Hurricane Imelda , which was a tropical storm and t hen became a hurricane on Tuesday morning, Sept. 30, according to the National Hurricane Center.

According to an early morning advisory on Tuesday, Sept. 30 , from the NHC, Bermuda is under a hurricane watch as Imelda is expected to approach the island on Wednesday , Oct. 1.

The advisory also states that the storm is moving toward Bermuda and away from the southeastern United States.

The storm is moving northeast at nearly 7 mph with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph, according to the NHC.
