A man is accused of firing a gun during an attempted robbery at a multi-family home in Naugatuck over the weekend and has been arrested.

Officers were called to the home on Hill Street on Saturday around 8 p.m. for a report of a gun that may have been discharged inside the third-floor apartment.

Witnesses reported hearing a potential gunshot and cries for help.

Police said they made numerous attempts to contact the third-floor tenants and eventually forced their way inside. Once inside, they said they found signs of a struggle including displaced furniture and minor property damage.
