Biometric programs continue to generate controversy across North America. Just a couple of months ago, Canadians grew frustrated over a potential new biometric requirement for visiting the U.S.

This would be specific to ground travel, involving the implementation of facial recognition technology. The goal would be to distinguish matches and avoid impostors crossing the border. Canadians weren't in favour of this idea, as it would likely increase travel time. Nonetheless, a timetable has not been established for the potential addition of the security program.

On the other hand, a timetable has been established for the Biometric Exit program, and it is now in effect. As of September 15, 2025, airports across the U.S. can implement the procedure for all passengers.
