Auburn football featured more freshmen in last week’s 16-10 loss to Texas A&M than in the SEC opener at Oklahoma.
Eight freshmen played in the Tigers’ trip to Kyle Field, contributing to key defensive stops throughout the game.
Here’s a list of the most impactful freshman performances against Texas A&M:
Eric Winters, Safety
Eric Winters played 27 snaps and finished with three total tackles.
In the first half, Winters sacked Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed for a nine-yard loss on third down that forced an Aggies punt.
Elijah Melendez, LB
Elijah Melendez played 29 snaps at inside linebacker and finished with four solo tackles.
His two solo tackles came against the Aggies running backs, stopping Le’Veon Moss and Rueben Owens II for little to no gains.
